   The SAMUDRA approach:

The super small size of HPLEDs makes it feasible for them to be used in a hundred different ways. Restricting their use to limited designs is to a very large extent underutilizing the LED technology. With this in mind, we have designed products which can be customized to our customers’ needs

The efficiency of an LED fixture depends on a combination of the following:

  1. Choosing the right type of LEDs
  2. Proper heat management
  3. Product design
  4. Durability

Not just this but what is extremely important is to have people with a sound understanding of the subject along with experience to effectively integrate all the above 4 points together.

In short, you need the right recipe, along with the correct and best ingredients and a knowledgeable and experienced chef to dish out the best dish! Samudra has exactly this!!

Samudra LED fixtures incorporate & exhibit all the above features in their designs.

For example:

  1. Samudra uses High Powered LEDs from brands of world repute, which give a lumen output between 130 & 150 lm per watt.
  2. The heat management technology is very unique and has an ‘out of the box’ approach.
  3. All products designed by Samudra have been filed for patents globally. This not only shows, but also proves, that all our product-designs are an outcome of innovative thinking. The looks of our products are totally unconventional. They look distinct, robust, rugged, muscular and smart.
  4. The material used for the fixtures is high quality aluminum and is processed to endure environmental / outdoor extremities.

   How does all this help?

  1. Since the lumens output per watt is higher, our products give more light and consume less power.
  2. Our products assure savings between 70 to 90 % in electrical energy.
  3. The life of LEDs is anywhere over 55000 hrs. and this can be achieved only with proper heat management. Without proper heat management LEDs can burn out instantaneously. With our ‘patent filed’ designs for heat management, we ensure that we not only achieve the projected life of LEDs but optimize it.
  4. The body/housing of the LED has to be equally robust so as to last for 55000 hrs. – the estimated life of the LEDs. The high quality processed aluminum (surface coated & anodized) ensures this.

   Quality Assurance:

  • To ensure that we don’t compromise on quality at any level, we get our products tested from one of the best Solid State Lighting laboratories in USA – Luminarie Testing Lab. Inc. Pennsylvania. LTL is recognized by the Dept. of Energy, USA, to certify SSL fixture performance as per IESNA standards.
  • Drivers used are UL/CE certified as per UL-8750 and Fixtures as per UL-1598.

   Buying Tips

A lot is spoken and promised to customers while buying LED luminaires. To make sure that the product is a genuine one, here are a few tips which will not only prove educative but will also help make the right decision!

  1. Ensure Proper Heat Management:
To use LEDs effectively needs a lot of research; especially in terms of design, material and electronics. Design plays a very crucial role in managing heat dissipation. Without proper heat management, the projected life of LEDs gets reduced drastically. Samudra’s designs are unique and an outcome extensive research.  Samudra has filed patents in the USA and India for Process Manufacturing and Design Registration.

  2. Check Lumens per Watt:
The LEDs used in the product should provide maximum light consuming minimum energy. Samudra uses LEDs which are rated between 130 & 150 lumens per watt. The forward current has to be managed in a manner which drives the LED to perform to its optimum capacity as indicated by the LED chip manufacturer.

  3. Ask for Photometric Data from a Certified Lab:
Ensure that the luminaire manufacturer’s performance claims are supported by  IESNA LM-79-08reports with data files from a certified lab approved by the US Department of Energy (DOE). Samudra gets their products tested from Luminaire Testing Laboratory (LTL), Philadelphia, USA.

  4. Verify Lumen Depreciation:
Traditional sources of lights, which are mostly filament-based, usually fail completely at the end of their life. LEDs typically don’t fail completely; they simply fade over time, which is referred to as lumen depreciation. IESNA LM – 80 is a standard that supports an assessment of expected lifetime of the LED. Ask the Luminaire manufacturer for the LED chip manufacturer’s IESNA LM – 80 reports to support the life expectancy claims of the LEDs.

  5. Ensure High Power Factor (>0.95):
To ensure a High Power Factor, the reactive power generated by the fixture should be as low as possible. This makes the product high in product efficiency and assures low energy consumption.

  6. Driver Circuit Efficiency:
Ensure that the efficiency of the electronic driver circuit is greater than 85%. This will enhance the light output and minimize heat loss.

  7. Life Expectancy:
For the fixture to last for the projected working life (usually >50,000 hrs.), the luminaire must be designed to last for more than 100,000 hrs. This needs a perfect integration of hardware, electronic components and LEDs, which Samudra has mastered over the period of time. The body of our fixture is specially treated to help it meet the projected working life.

40 - 50
130-150
Outstanding performance. Better & brighter light.
Though the total output is higher than LEDs, MH & HPSs emit light in 360 deg. This results in upto 40% light wastage and impacts performance.
Low output.
Incandescent bulbs convert about 95% of electricity into heat. Only 5% is converted into light, therefore, it generates only 14 to 16 lm/W.
The beam angle for LEDs is between 10 deg. & 180 deg. This helps provide light in intended areas only. Almost no wastage of light.
